When Victoria's streetcar system was removed in the late 1940s, a new bus transit system was entirely in place. In 1957, the city purchased ten new buses, each seating 45 passengers and featuring a new technology called Air Ride. This technology replaced the springs in seats with air for a more comfortable ride. Each bus was available for special events or private charters, but most operated on the busiest routes throughout Victoria.
